Requests
and Templates
What's
a Template?
A template is a "boiler
plate" that you can use for creating requests to FAST. The
template saves information common to each request. You create
a template once. You may then use the template to create as
many new requests as you wish.
Creating
Program Templates
To create a custom template,
click the
button in the left frame.
FAST returns the Template List form. This form shows
the custom templates you have defined. Click the
button to create a new program. FAST displays an empty template.
First fill in the program's name. This is the name that will
appear on the Template List form. Next fill in the
remaining values you want for the template.
When you have finished filling in values, click the
button. Your template will now appear both on your template list
and you will be able to use it when you create a new request.
Editing/Deleting
Templates
To edit or delete an
existing template, first go the Template List form by clicking
on the
button . Next select the radio button next to the template
you wish to alter and press either the
or the
button. If you choose edit, FAST will display the template.
You may now edit the values in the form as you wish. When
you have completed your editing, press the
button to save your changes.
Creating
New Requests
To create a new request,
click the
button in the left navigation frame. FAST displays the set
of templates available to you. You will see one column of predefined
Company Templates and once column of your own Custom Templates.
Choose the template you wish to use and then click one of the buttons
at the bottom of the form to start your request.

Checking
Status
Usage
FAST supports a number
of status queries. To access the query menu, click the
button on the left navigation frame. The query menu consists
of a set of radio buttons on the left side, a set of explanations
and optional fields on the right side and a
button at the bottom.
To use the form, click the radio button next to the query you wish
to perform, fill in any optional field for the query and click the
button. You may
also belong to a Workgroup. If you do, a second set of radio buttons
will ask if you wish to query all requests within your workgroup
or only your own requests. Selecting all requests in my workgroup
will enable you to view requests made by others in your group. This
is useful if you need to cover for a coworker who may be out of
the office. By default you will see only your own requests.
General
Inquiries
FAST supports several
general inquiries. These inquiries locate and display all
your requests in a particular state. The queries and their
functions are:
- All open requests
-- This query shows all your requests which are currently being
quoted
- All suspended requests
-- This query shows all your suspended requests
- All recent requests
-- This request shows all of your request which are newer that
some number of days. By default, the number of days is 14
although you may specify an alternative number of days if you
wish.
Finding
a Specific Request
You may search for a
specific request by Ref #, Label, PO, or Tracking #.
Click the radio button next to A single request identified
by... Fill in the number you wish to search for and click
the
button.
Searching
for Part Number History
You may search for history
on a specific part number. Click the radio button next to
Part Number History for... Fill in the number you wish
to search for and click the
button. FAST searches for
your part number across all Raytheon users' requests.

FAQ
-- Frequently Asked Questions
Q: |
When I print forms,
the right hand side of the form does not print. How can
I print the entire page? |
A: |
Try printing in
landscape mode instead of portrait mode. To print in landscape
mode using Netscape, click File then click Print.
On the Print sheet click Properties then click
Landscape. |
Q: |
What's a cookie
and why do I need one? |
A: |
Cookies are small
bits of data stored by your web browser (e.g. Netscape).
When you login to FAST, FAST asks your browser to store a FAST
cookie. FAST uses this cookie to verify that you have
logged in each time you access a FAST web page. If your
browser asks you if you wish to accept a cookie when you log
in to FAST you should answer Yes. |
Q:: |
Every time I click
an item on the menu FAST says Your login session has expired.
Why does it do that? |
A: |
Each time you attempt
to access a FAST page FAST verifies that you have a cookie.
If you did not accept FAST's cookie when you logged in you will
see this message. The solution is to login again and accept
FAST's cookie. |
